How many time zones in Shrink Sjing?

Filed under: Prosperity — dom @ 10:53 am
El Alto played last night 3-29-07 at Magnetic Fields over in Brooklyn.  H and I took the Jackie Robinson right over to Atlantic Ave.  I saw a truck that said Gypsum Express on it.  It was a sweet early spring late day drive.  We were rocking Kriedler and this sick Reggae band called Clint Eastwood and General Saint.  S.l.e.e.p deprivation headaches nagged at me, but when we passed the obdurately named Interboro Pizza…i broke from that vapid making soma-squeeze-crush.  My friend Evan told me a joke about Sicilians and the SAT exam. I in turn told the joke to the packed audience.  This place ‘Magnetic Field’ by the by…is a great place to play and see music… friendly workers, and not too crowd-gabby while the music is going on.
We sounded ok.  There was some bullshit technical problems with our machines…sampler..drum….the sound was fucked up….sometimes way too loud…other times way too quiet. As my friend Evan pointed out over cigs out in front of the joint….the sound mix sounded soo out of whack and vertiginous…for the primary reason that all the sound elements..instruments….were not anchoring elements…it was all color no picture…no imaginary lines were forming helping the sound guy project our songs in a pleasing or compromised way to the listeners.  Our lack of more practice time, and the fact that it is mainly MQ and I that know songs well, does not help.  Anyway, with all that said, we sounded alright…we even kicked the places ass with a song we never performed before…and that we played a simpler and not better truncated version of:  GRIPPO SMOKES OUT THE ROOM!  This was the last show of the gig.  MQ and maybe H had serious reservations about doing this one.  Tim Tam and I were more into it.  At that point, there were some disappointing things that sort of lessened the joy of this set for me, and i thought that with a kick ass Grippo…there would be this sort of ‘redemption’…this sort of antidote to some of the bad taste on the band’s tongue from this set.  I’m really hung over..so I’ll leave it like that.  I’ve been changing old people’s homepages that I know to this dumb site about pickles.  I find this very funny.  Why?  Balthrop ALabamba is great….i really enjoyed what they were doign…

Question to A. Roy

Filed under: Prosperity — dom @ 1:21 pm

How does one view the recent State and police violence in Bengal?

No different from police and State violence anywhere else — including the issue of hypocrisy and doublespeak so perfected by all political parties including the mainstream Left. Are Communist bullets different from capitalist ones? Odd things are happening. It snowed in Saudi Arabia. Owls are out in broad daylight. The Chinese government tabled a bill sanctioning the right to private property. I don’t know if all of this has to do with climate change. The Chinese Communists are turning out to be the biggest capitalists of the 21st century. Why should we expect our own parliamentary Left to be any different? Nandigram and Singur are clear signals. It makes you wonder — is the last stop of every revolution advanced capitalism? Think about it — the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Chinese Revolution, the Vietnam War, the anti-apartheid struggle, the supposedly Gandhian freedom struggle in India… what’s the last station they all pull in at? Is this the end of imagination?

Suffolk County NY: The cyst on the boil

Filed under: Prosperity — dom @ 9:53 am

A year-long criminal probe of Suffolk fire and ambulance districts yielded a parade of suspects in handcuffs Tuesday, all accused of plundering public funds in a “pattern of thievery” District Attorney Thomas Spota called “shameful.”

Seven current or former members of Suffolk County fire districts, along with the president of a Suffolk ambulance district, were charged with stealing taxpayer funds in schemes ranging from the spectacular to mundane:

East Moriches Ambulance company president Alan Crane stole $6,500, Spota said, spending it on items such as pork chops and a guitar.

It has been difficult finding a 230 Volt bulb for my small colorful european lamp.  It has been easy to love my new Green and orange dish drainer with superior flexible orange tipped bristles….

Go to link below …you are looking for a bulb for a european lamp…that says on it:  230V 50HZ

Have completed writing my shorto novel: “Controversial Boyle.”  I think I have invented the best water colorist I could have dreamed of conjuring from the bowels of Rumanian fantasy.  Sick tiny freezing ice pellets shower this four story and crumbling March night.  I just can’t read the whole chapter on Satan from Empson’s thought spiking book: “Milton’s God.”  Maybe I shall meet Belial at the German restaurant on South Tyson Street in Floral Park.  I have decided that this (most certainly empty eatery,) is where I should end up tonight.  I will return alive.
